Painting by Alexander Nasmyth, located in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Edinburgh
Description
A discussion of Burns' life and human relationships creates a fascinating recital and conference. Robert Burns was exceptional in his creative force during his extraordinary life of 37 years. He was intense, romantic, and passionate.
Commonly known as the greatest Scottish poet, some say that his songs are even more famous. He never composed music; however, he did compose over 300 song lyrics to existing Scottish music during the last ten years of his life.
Dr. Wagner, accompanied with his guitar, tells the story of this short and inspiring life, singing the songs as they impact the events of Burns' life.
This is a two-hour presentation, which can be adjusted to meet the scheduling needs of the community.
"Robert Burns: His Life and His Songs" is also available as a printed book, or on a double-volume set of compact discs. For more information about ordering, please see the purchasing page.
